Highlights

The average temperature in Nome during September was 46.5°F, 4.3°F above the long term mean. The reported high was 60°F on the 18th and 19th, and the 19th set a new daily high temperature record, the old record was 58°F set in 1969. The low was 22°F on the 29th and 30th, and the first frost came with a temperature of 30°F on the 25th, and below freezing low temperatures continued through the remainder of the month. Precipitation was measured at 2.09”, 17% below normal. Winds averaged 9.2 mph at the airport and a gust of 32 mph occurred on the 25th.
