Highlights

Nome reported a mean monthly temperature in October of 28.0°F, a negative deviation of 0.7°F from the long-term mean. The warmest monthly temperature was 44°F, observed on the 14th of October, while the coldest temperature occurred on the 30th of the month with a value of 0°F. The temperatures were seasonally colder at the beginning and end of the month, while they were above normal for middle of the month. No new temperature extremes were observed during October. Precipitation was in the expected range, totaling 1.55", was very close to the mean value of 1.61". However, on the 12th a new record rainfall event occurred with 0.63". This broke the old record of 0.39" set way back in 1944. The average wind speed for the month was 6.5 mph, and the highest gust observed was 32 mph on the 13th.
