Highlights

38.9°F was the average temperature in Nome during May, 1.8°F above normal. The mercury reached a high of 69°F on the 30th and a low of 19°F on the 6th.  On the 19th, a record high temperature of 65°F was reported, 1°F higher than the old record set in 1980.  Light snow activity was reported from the first through the 13th, but by the 14th there was no snow left on the ground.  Precipitation for the month was measured at 0.27", 36% below normal.  Winds averaged 6.3 mph at the airport and a high gust of 32 mph occurred on the 11th.
