38.9°F was the average temperature in Nome during May, 1.8°F above normal. The mercury reached a high of 69°F on the 30^th and a low of 19°F on the 6^th.  On the 19^th, a record high temperature of 65°F was reported, 1°F higher than the old record set in 1980.  Light snow activity was reported from the first through the 13^th, but by the 14^th there was no snow left on the ground.  Precipitation for the month was measured at 0.27", 36% below normal.  Winds averaged 6.3 mph at the airport and a high gust of 32 mph occurred on the 11^th.
