Highlights

The March monthly mean temperature for Nome was observed at 6.5°F, 3.8°F below the normal of 10.3°F. The highest temperature for the month was 31°F on the 6th, while the lowest was -24°F on the 13th.

Precipitation was slightly above normal, with 0.70" observed, just 0.05" above normal. Over half of that precipitation, 0.45", fell on the 6th, breaking the record for that day, set in 1921, by 0.21". Snowfall was near normal, with 8.8" measured, and 8.9" expected. 5.5" of this snowfall fell on the 6th, shattering the record for that day, set in 1954 by 3.3". The highest wind speed was 49 mph on the 7th from a westerly direction and the average wind speed was 5.1 mph.
