Highlights

Nome reported a mean monthly temperature in June of 49.2°F, 1.9°F above normal. The maximum temperature occurred on the 29th with 68°F, while the coldest temperature was just above freezing (33°F), and occurred on the 6th. No new temperature extremes were observed at Nome during June. Precipitation was somewhat below normal, totaling 0.86", which is 3/4 of the long-term mean. On the 20th a new record rainfall of 0.29" occurred, surpassing the old record of 0.23" from 1910, and that had stood unbroken for over century. The average wind speed for the month was 8.2 mph, and the highest gust observed was 39 mph on the 4th.
