Highlights

Nome had a mean temperature of 51.1°F, 1.1°F below the normal value of 52.2°F. The minimum temperature for the month was a chilly 33.0°F, observed on the 1st. However, just a week later, on the 8th, the maximum temperature was reported at 75°F.
Nearly three times the normal amount of precipitation was observed in Nome. A total of 6.27" of rain fell. This is 4.16" over the normal amount of 2.11". Helping this high total were two record events. On the 25th, 1.38" fell, 0.03" more than the previous record set in way back in 1922. Then on the 28th, 1.13" of rain fell, breaking the previous record for that day of 0.87", set 101 years ago in 1911. The average monthly wind speed was 9.5 mph, while the max wind speed was 32 mph, occurring on the 24th and 25thof the month, blowing on the from a southerly and southeasterly direction, respectively.
