Highlights

Nome had a mean monthly temperature of 20.2°F this January, a whopping 15.0°F above the normal of 5.2°F. The highest temperature for the month was 38°F on the 4th, while the lowest was -13°F on both the 23rd and 24th.

Precipitation was less than normal with 0.53" measured and 0.94" expected. Snowfall was also lighter than normal, at just 65% of the normal 12.7", with 8.2" measured. Despite this however, the 2.5" that fell on the 29th broke the record, at 1.6", for that day set in 2008. The average wind speed was 13.3 mph while the highest was 49 mph on the 9th from a northeasterly direction.
