Highlights

Nome in April was much warmer than normal, with a monthly mean of 28.4°F, a significant 7.9°F above the normal mean of 20.5°F. The highest temperature for the month was 51°F, recorded on the 23rd, while the lowest was -4°F on the 8th. The high of 43°F on the 18th tied the record set in 1953 and reached again in 2010. On the 20th, a temperature of 47°F was recorded, breaking the 1996 record of 45°F. 

0.45" of precipitation was observed for April, 0.31" less than normal. Snowfall was 41% of normal with 3.1" of snowfall observed, 4.4" less than the 7.5" expected for the month. The highest wind speed was 32 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 1st, while the average wind speed was 7.9 mph.
