Highlights

Nome had a mean temperature for April of 16.3°F, a significant 4.2°F below the normal value of 20.5°F. Temperatures varied considerably, with a cold spell during the second week of the month. The maximum temperature was reported at 38°F on the 24th. The minimum temperature for the month was observed on the 11th and 12th at a chilly -8°F. April had below normal precipitation with a total of 0.30". This is 39% of the normal amount of 0.76". Snowfall was also light with a total of 4.5", 60% of the normal of 7.5". The average monthly wind speed was 5.5 mph, while the maximum wind speed was 38 mph, and occurred on the 6th of the month, blowing from a northerly direction.
