Highlights

Nome reported a mean monthly temperature in April of 17.9°F, 1.7°F below normal. The maximum temperature occurred on the 24th with 44°F and a minimum of 13°F was recorded on the 11th. Precipitation was very close to normal, totaling 0.64", only 1/100" below the long-term mean value. A total of 11.2" of snowfall was measured in April, 60% above normal. This included a new daily snowfall record of 7.7" that fell on the 7th, topping the previous record of 5.4" set in 1945. The average wind speed for the month was 7.3 mph, and the highest gust observed was 55 mph on the 7th.
