Highlights

Kodiak was cooler than normal for September, having a mean temperature of 48.3°F, 1.1°F less than the expected mean of 49.4°F. The maximum temperature for the month (62°F) was observed on the 3rd, and the minimum temperature was 27°F, reported on the 29th. The low temperature of 35.0°F on the 9thset a new daily record minimum temperature for that day, breaking the record of 36°F set previously in 2004. Then on the 10ththe minimum temperature of 34°F tied the old record set in 1967. Finally, the low of 27°F on the 29thbroke the 1996 record of 28°F.
Precipitation was high at 31% above normal with a total of 9.64", 2.29" over the normal amount of 7.35". The average wind was 9.4 mph, while the highest wind gust occurred on the 26that 58 mph, blowing from a northeasterly direction.
