Highlights

The mean monthly temperature for Kodiak in October was 44.0°F, 3.5°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 59°F on the 3rd. One daily high record was set, on the 13th the high of 55°F observed broke the old 1936 record for that day by 1°F. The lowest temperature for the month was 22°F on the 18th, setting a daily low record for that day, breaking the old record of 24°F set in 1994. One day prior, on the 17th, the 23°F observed also set a low record for that day, breaking the old 1997 record by 1°F.

Precipitation was 140% of normal with 11.58” measured and 8.26” expected. Snowfall however was a mere 0.2” while 1.1” were expected. The average wind speed was 12.3 mph while the highest wind speed was 56 mph occurring on the 11th from a northeasterly direction and on the 18th from a northeasterly direction.
