Highlights

May’s mean monthly temperature for Kodiak was 45.2°F, 0.9°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 66°F occurring on the 11th, while the minimum was 32°F occurring on the 26th, and this set a new record low for this day, breaking the old record of 34°F set way back in 1939.

Precipitation was above normal and measured at 7.17”, 128% of the normal of 5.62". The total precipitation on the 2nd of 1.39" set a daily record, breaking the 2008 record of 1.18". Then on the 6th, the total of 1.92" broke the old record of 1.53" set in 2005. The average wind speed was 9.9 mph while the highest wind speed was 48 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 2nd.
