Highlights

Kodiak was 1.4°F colder than normal in May, with an average temperature of 42.9°F. The highest temperature of the month was 61°F, observed on both the 28th and 29th. The coldest temperature for the month was observed on the 19th, at 28°F, which set a new minimum for that day, breaking the 30.0°F set in 2007. On the 18th, a minimum temperature of 30.0°F was observed, breaking the old record of 31.0°F for that day set in 1967 and 1975.

Precipitation was at 2.22" low, just 40% of the normal value of 5.62". Snowfall was slightly above normal, 0.9" were observed, 0.7" higher than the expected amount. The average monthly wind speed was 8.3mph, with the highest wind speed of 44 mph occurring on the 18th, blowing from a westerly direction.
