Highlights

Kodiak had a mean monthly temperature of 34.6°F this December, 3.4°F above the normal of 31.2°F. The highest temperature for the month was 45°F on the 29th, while the lowest was 14°F on the 13th.

Precipitation was 141% of normal, with 12.28" of precipitation measured and 8.73" expected. Contributing to this was the 1.35" that was observed on the 1st, breaking the record for that day by 0.20", set back in 1985. Snowfall was more than normal as well, with 14.9" of snow measured, 1.1" above normal. On the 17th, 5.4" of snow was measured, breaking the record for that day set both in 1974 and 1966. The highest wind speed was 64 mph on the 17th from a northeasterly direction, while the average wind speed was 12.5 mph.
