Highlights

Kodiak was just warmer than normal this August, with a monthly observed temperature of 56.1°F, which was 0.9°F warmer than the long term mean. The warmest temperature for the month (69°F) was observed on the 23rd, 24th, 25th. The coldest (40°F) was recorded on the 8th, which is also a new daily low record, breaking the old record of 41°F reached in 1974, 1973 and 1970.

Precipitation was more than double normal, with 9.29" reported, 104% above of the normal amount. Kodiak only had seven days without rainfall. The average wind speed was 7.8 mph, with a peak wind speed of 39 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 6th.
