King Salmon November 2011


Highlights

King Salmon reported an average temperature of 15.3°F, substantially below (deviation -7.6°F) the long-term mean of 22.9°F. The highest temperature of November was 44°F, recorded on the 3rd of November. The low temperature of -25°F occurred on the 26th. New record low temperature extremes were reported for the month, the first on the 23rd at -19°F, matching the old record for this day set in 2005. A couple of days later, the minimum temperature was recorded again as -19°F, matching the record of 1948, and on the following day (26th), the minimum went down to -25°F, surpassing the old record low set in 1963 by a substantial -5°F. The precipitation total was measured as 2.72", notably above the long term mean of 1.39". Especially remarkable was the precipitation on the 3rd with 0.66", setting a new record for this day. The old record, set in 2002, was 0.43". 9.5" of snow was reported for the month. Average wind speed was 11.8 mph and the highest gust was recorded at 56 mph on the 3rd.
