Highlights

King Salmon’s August mean monthly temperature was 59.5°F, 4.9°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 77°F on the 31st. This set a record for that day, breaking the old 1942 record by 3°F. Another high daily record was set just the previous day, on the 30th, where a temperature of 74°F was observed, breaking the record for that day, also set in 1942, by 6°F. in addition, the high of 76°F on the 27th tied the 1987 record. In an unusual occurrence the lowest temperature for the month also occurred on the 31st, at 40°F.

Precipitation was 164% of normal, with 4.84” measured and 2.95” expected. The highest wind speed was 42 mph on the 17th from an easterly direction, while the average wind speed was 7.8 mph.
