King Salmon August 2013


Highlights

In August, King Salmon was 1.2°F above the normal temperature of 54.6°F, with a monthly mean of 55.8°F. Temperatures were mixed around normal throughout the month with no new records set. The 18th held the warmest recorded temperature for the month at 71°F, while the 41°F on the 24th was the lowest temperature.

Precipitation was heavy at 82% (2.43") above the expected amount with a total of 5.38" recorded. Helping generate the high total was a new record of 0.99" on the 8th, breaking the 1974 record of 0.54". Then the total rain of 0.93" on the 21st broke the 1973 record of 0.67". The average wind speed was 8.5 mph, while the highest wind speed was 44 mph on the 6th, blowing from an easterly direction.
