Juneau December 2015


Highlights

Juneau had a mean monthly temperature of 32.0°F this December, 2.1°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 43°F on the 1st, while the lowest temperature was 12°F on Christmas day. This was also the warmest year on record, with a mean temperature of 44.5°F, breaking the old record set in 1993 by 0.3°F.

Precipitation was light with 2.42" of precipitation measured, 3.42" below normal. Snowfall was near normal with 16.3" of snow measured, just 0.7" above normal. Contributing to the higher than normal snowfall was the 6.6" that fell on the 26th, which set a record for that day, breaking the old record set in 2008, by 0.2". The average wind speed was 6.7 mph, while the highest wind speed was 47 mph on the 31st from a southeasterly direction.
