Highlights

Juneau in April observed a monthly mean temperature of 41.9°F 1.1°F above the expected 40.8°F. The highest temperature observed for the month was 62°F on the 25th, while the lowest was 28°F on the 5th. The high temperature of 53°F on the 5th tied the daily record set in 1980 and 1941.

7.18" of precipitation was recorded this month, 244% of the 2.94" normal. Contributing to the higher amount of precipitation were the three daily precipitation records that were set: on the 8th 1.14" of precipitation was recorded, breaking the old 1960 record for the day by 0.48". On the 10th 0.72" were measured, breaking the 1994 daily record by 0.08", and finally on the 28th, 0.98" of precipitation was recorded, breaking the 1963 record for that day by 0.35". Due to the warmer temperatures, no precipitation fell as snow, while 1.1" of snow is normally observed. The mean wind speed was 10.5 mph, with a highest wind speed of 52 mph, from a southeasterly direction on the 28th.
