Fairbanks November 2012


In Fairbanks the average temperature for November was -8.8°F, a remarkable 11.4°F below the long-term mean. The lowest temperature for the month was -31°F on the 30th, while the highest temperature was 22°F on the 10th. With the exception of a couple days around the 10th, temperatures tended to be on the cold side throughout the month, and this resulted in the 6th coldest November on record. No new record temperature events were recorded.
Precipitation was below normal in November, with a total of 0.29", 0.38" below the expected value of 0.67". Snowfall totaled 4.2" for the month, 9.0" below normal. Fairbanks reported less than half the normal snowfall for the season. The mean wind speed was 2.5 mph, with a maximum gust of 24 mph on the 19th, blowing from a northeasterly direction.
