Fairbanks had a monthly mean temperature, this May, of 51.3°F, 1.9°F above the normal of 49.4°F. The highest temperature recorded this month was 73°F on the 2nd,. The high of 72°F reached on the 3rd 1995 record for the day by 2°F. The lowest recorded temperature for the month occurred on the 9th and 14th at 31°F.

Precipitation was slight, with a monthly amount of 0.06", 10% of normal. This is the 5th lowest value in 101 years. No snow was recorded, while 0.9" was the expected amount. The average wind speed was 5.8 mph, and the greatest wind speed was 42 mph from a southwesterly direction during the windstorm on the 31st.
