Highlights

July for Fairbanks was slightly cooler than normal, a monthly mean of 61.0°F observed, 1.5°F below the 62.5°F normal. The highest temperature for the month was 87°F on the 6th, while the lowest was 39°F on the 26th

5.78" of precipitation was observed in July, 168% more than the normal of 2.16". It was the second wettest July on record for Fairbanks, just behind the 5.96" from 2003, and following a record wet June. Part of this was due to the 1.92" that fell on the 1st of the month, utterly smashing the 1935 record of 0.65" for the day. The average wind speed was 4.6 mph, while the greatest wind gust was 38 mph from a southwesterly direction on the 14th.
