Highlights

Fairbanks was slightly colder than normal in August, with a mean monthly temperature of 54.6°F observed, 1.5°F below the normal of 56.1°F. Despite the colder than normal monthly mean, the highest temperature for the month was a warm 80°F on the 4th, while the coldest was just above freezing, at 33°F on the 31st.

Precipitation was 0.70" above normal, with 2.58" measured, compared to the 2.58" that was expected. The highest wind speed was 33 mph on the 27th, from a westerly direction, while the average wind speed was 4.7 mph.
