Highlights

Fairbanks' average temperature was 59.9°F, 3.1°F above average for August. The high temperature was 91°F on the 15th, which set a new record for this date, the previous record being 86°F in 1926. This was the highest temperature ever recorded so late in the summer season. The low was 40°F on the 21st and 27th. A total of 1.46” of precipitation was recorded, which is 84% of normal for the month. The highest daily precipitation total was 0.69” on the 28th. Winds averaged 4.0 mph at the airport and the highest gust was 32 mph on the 17th.
