Highlights

Fairbanks had a mean monthly temperature of 42.4°F, 9.9°F above normal this April. The highest temperature for the month was 67°F on the 25th, while the lowest was 19°F on the 2nd. The high of 66°F on the 23rd tied the daily high set in 1940.

Precipitation was heavier that normal, with 0.52" measured, 0.21" above normal. Snowfall was also higher than normal, with 3.7" recorded, 0.8" above the normal of 2.9". Remarkably, more than half of this fell on a single day, with 2.3" on the 3rd, which broke the daily record, set in 1970, for that day by 0.9". The highest wind speed was 30 mph occurring on the 17th from a northeasterly direction and on the 21st from a northeasterly direction as well. The average wind speed was 6.4 mph.
