Highlights

Mild temperatures throughout April in Fairbanks hastened the snowmelt, which presented a full week earlier than expected. The mean temperature for the month was 39.4°F, 6.8°F above the mean. The high temperature was 68°F on the 28th and the low was 9°F on the 9th. 0.29” of precipitation was measured, 38% greater than normal. Only a trace of snow fell throughout the month, and the seasonal snowpack went from 10” on the 1st, to <=1” by the 15th. Winds averaged 4.1 mph at the airport and the highest gust was 32 mph on the 10th.
