Highlights

Anchorage had a mean monthly temperature of 51.7°F this September, 3.1°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 71°F on the 2nd, which also set a record for the highest temperature for that day, breaking the old 1963 record by 1°F. The coldest was 32°F on the 30th.

Precipitation was lighter than normal, with 2.35” measured and 2.99” expected. A small amount of snow, 0.4” is usually expected, but none was recorded for the month. The average wind speed was 7.2 mph while the highest wind speed was 47 mph on the 11th and 12th both from a southeasterly direction.
