Highlights

In May Anchorage measured a monthly mean temperature of 52.1°F, 4.3°F above the normal of 47.8°F. The highest temperature recorded for the month was 73°F on the 17th which also broke the previous record for the day, of 69°F set in 2002. The lowest recorded temperature this May was 33°F on the 1st. Daily temperature maxima were recorded on the 2nd, with a temperature of 70°F breaking the 66°F recorded in 2009, while the high temperature of 68°F on the 3rd broke the 2009 record by 2°F, and the 4th's 68°F broke the 2004 record by 1°F, and the 10th's recorded temperature of 68°F broke a 1954 record of 65°F.

Monthly precipitation in May was recorded at 0.47", 65% of the normal 0.72". No snow was recorded; the normal amount is 0.3". The highest wind speed occurred on the 31st, with a 46 mph, blowing from a southerly direction. The average wind speed was 7.4 mph.
