Highlights

Anchorage reported a mean monthly temperature of 62.7°F in July, 3.9°F over the long time mean. The highest temperature of the month was 79°F on the 18th and the 19th, which also broke a record for the 19th set back in 1986 by 2.0°F. The high of 76°F on the 17th tied the 2002 record, while the high of 79°F on the 18th tied the record from 1989. The lowest temperature for the month was 51°F on the 8th. This month was also the warmest July on record, beating the old record set in 1977 by 0.2°F. 

Precipitation was heavier than normal, with 2.48” measured, and 1.83” normally expected. The average wind speed was 6.0 mph while the highest was 36 mph on the 29th from a southeasterly direction.
