Anchorage January 2013


Highlights

Anchorage was warmer than normal in January, with an average temperature of 22.4°F, 5.3°F above the expected temperature. The maximum temperature (44°F) occurred on the 14th, while the minimum temperature (-9°F) occurred on the 27th and 28th. January temperatures tended to warmer than normal with the exception of a few days around the 28th.
Precipitation was high at 1.22", 67% above the normal of 0.73". Snowfall totaled 14.7", 3.4" above the expected amount. The average wind speed was 6.4 mph, with a maximum wind speed of 41 mph reported on the 13th, blowing from a southerly direction.
