Highlights

Anchorage recorded a mean monthly temperature of 16.0°F in December, -3.0°F below normal. The highest temperature for the month was 37°F occurring on both the 17th. The lowest temperature for the month was -8°F on the 5th.

Precipitation was slightly heavier than normal with 1.47” measured, 0.36” above normal, contributing was the 0.46” that fell on the 1st, which set a new daily record, breaking the old 1974 record by 0.06”. Snowfall was just 1% above normal at 16.9” recorded, 0.2” above the long term mean. However, 7.7” of this fell on the 1st, which set a new daily record for that day, breaking the old 1974 record by 1.7”. The average wind speed was 5.7 mph while the highest value was 32 mph recorded on the 3rd from a northerly direction.
