Highlights

December's mean monthly temperature for Anchorage was 21.5°F, 2.5°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 46°F on the 29th, which tied the record for the day set in 1967. The next day, the 30th, a temperature of 45°F was observed, breaking the record for that day set in 2000 by 1°F. The lowest temperature for the month was 4°F on the 6th. This was also the 2nd warmest year on record after 2014.

Precipitation was lighter than normal, at 0.23", 0.88" below normal. Additionally snowfall was a mere 16% of normal with 2.6" measured and 16.7" normally expected. The average wind speed was 5.3 mph, while the highest wind speed was 48 mph on the 30th from a southerly direction.
