Anchorage had a mean monthly temperature of 58.9°F this August, 2.2°F above the normal 56.7°F. The highest temperature for the month was 79°F, on the 3^rd, which also broke the old (76°F) record for that day set in 1999. Two other daily records were set, on the 4^th, the 78°F broke the old 1997 record of 74°F, and on the 7^th, the 77°F observed broke the old 2004 record of 76°F. The lowest temperature for the month was 40°F on the 29^th.

Precipitation was just 30% of the normal amount, with 0.97" recorded, 2.28" lower than expected for the month. The average wind speed was 6.4 mph, while the highest was 44 mph on the 27^th from a northwesterly direction.
