Arctic Sea Ice Extent: May 29, 2025

May 29, 2025: The Arctic sea ice has experienced a greater decrease for this week of 3.54% (last week’s decrease rate was 2.41%), from the level on 05/22/2025 of 12.246 M km2 to 11.813 M km2 for this week.

The negative sea ice anomaly this week was higher than the anomaly of -0.3852 M km2 on 05/22/2025 to a greater negative anomaly of -0.4935 M km2 on 05/29/2025, and so more anomalously negative for this time of year.
