Arctic Sea Ice Extent: May 15, 2025

May 15, 2025: The Arctic sea ice has experienced a larger decrease for this week of 3.76% (last week’s decrease rate was 2.76%), from the level on 05/08/2025 of 13.038 M km2 to 12.548 M km2 for this week.

The negative sea ice anomaly this week was higher than the anomaly of -0.2812 M km2 on 05/08/2025 to a greater negative anomaly of -0.4197 M km2 on 05/15/2025, and so more anomalously negative for this time of year.
