Highlights
Drier than normal conditions across most of the state for the second month in a row, with near record low precipitation across parts of the Cook Inlet region.
Colder than normal May for the Interior and Panhandle; warmer than normal for the Cook Inlet, Bristol Bay, and North Slope.
At the end of the month, 150 wildfires had burned 13,335 acres across the state of Alaska.
The average sea ice extent for May ranks as 14th lowest in the satellite record.
