Highlights

The mean monthly temperature for Barrow in September was 34.5°F, 2.4°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 48°F observed on the 30th, which also set a record for that day, breaking the old 1955 record by 7°F. The high the day before of 43°F tied the old record from 1989. The lowest temperature for the month was 26°F on the 27th.

Precipitation was slightly heavier than normal with 0.77” measured and 0.72” expected. The precipitation total of 0.27" on the 29th set a new record for that day, breaking the old record of 0.17" from 1958. Snowfall was 45% of normal with 2.0” recorded and 4.4” normally expected. The average wind speed for the month was 12.4 mph while the highest wind speed was 44 mph on the 17th from a southwesterly direction.
