Highlights

Barrow reported an average temperature in May of 21.6°F, 0.5°F above normal. The month was fairly close to the expected values, with the exception of a cold spell around the 7thof the month. The trend shows a strong seasonal warming during this month. On the 17th, the maximum temperature of 36°F was reported, while the lowest temperature of -11°F was observed on the 6thof May. No new temperature records were observed during the month.
Precipitation in Barrow totaled 0.50" water equivalent, far above the long-term mean of 0.18". Some snowfall was observed on 22 days, for a total amount of 5.5". The mean monthly wind speed was 10.2 mph and a gust of 31 mph occurred on the 11th, blowing from an easterly direction.
