Highlights

Barrow has reported an average temperature in May of 22.5°F, 2.4°F above the long-term mean. The warmest temperatures for the month were 41°F on the 21st, breaking the old record by 1°F, which was set in 1938, and further on the 24th, with a temperature of 43°F, matching the old record for this specific day that had been set in 2002. The lowest temperature for the month was -5°F recorded on the 5th, and the precipitation in Barrow totaled 0.09", 25% below the normal value of 0.12". On the 27th of May, the winter snow cover had melted, and only a trace remained. The mean monthly wind speed was measured at 9.7 mph, with a gust of 30 mph occurring on the 16th.
