Average temperature in Barrow this May was 19.5°F, slightly below normal.  The high temperature for the month was 33°F occurring on both the 29^th and 31^st, and the low temperature was  -10°F on the 6^th.   Barrow set a new precipitation record on the 28^th, of 0.30" shattering the old record of 0.07" set on this date in 2009. The total precipitation for the month was 0.52" four times the normal amount of 0.12".  This puts May 2010 in the top 10 wettest Mays on record for Barrow. Snow was reported for 3 weeks of the month, and by the 31^st, there was 4.5" still on the ground.  Winds averaged 12.6 mph and the highest gust reported was 33 mph on May 1^st.
