Highlights

June's mean monthly temperature for Barrow was recorded at 40.1°F, 4.5°F above normal. This is a new high mean monthly temperature, breaking the old record of 39.0°F set just two years ago. The highest temperature was 67°F on the 19th, which broke the daily record for that day, set in 1991, by 1°F. In addition, the high of 53°F on the 7th broke the 1992 record of 52°F. The coldest temperature for the month was 25°F on the 1st and 4th.

Precipitation was heavier than normal with 0.84" measured for the month, 0.52" more than normal. The total precipitation of 0.16" on the 14th just topped the 1969 record for that day of 0.14". Also, the 0.9" of snow that fell on the 5th broke the previous record of 0.3", also from 1969. The average wind speed for the month was 9.7 mph, while the highest wind speed was 33 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 5th.
