Highlights

February's mean monthly temperature in Barrow was -4.1°F, a very high 10.1°F warmer than normal. The highest temperature for the month was 14°F on the 26th, while the lowest was -19°F on the 6th.

Precipitation was 0.85", 0.71" above normal. Much of this precipitation fell on the 12th, when the 0.57" recorded value broke the record for that day, set in 1989 by 0.45". Snowfall was also heavier than normal with 8.9" measured, 6.3" above normal. Contributing to this were the 5.7" that fell on the 12th, shattering the old record for that day of 1.2" set in 1989. The water-equivalent of the snow as well as the snowfall were also the greatest single day amounts ever received for any day in February. The highest wind speed was 49 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 12th, while the average wind speed was 19.6 mph.
