Highlights

February's mean monthly temperature for Barrow was observed at -6.6°F a substantial deviation of 7.6°F above the -14.2°F normal. The highest temperature for the month was observed on the 27th at 30°F, tying the daily record for this date set date back in 1962, while the lowest was a chilly -36°F on the 5th.

Precipitation was higher than normal with 0.31" observed, 0.17" above the expected 0.14". The precipitation equivalent of 0.08” on the 26th tied the daily record from 1951. Snowfall was also higher with 3.7" of snow measured, 142% of the 2.6" normally accumulated. Barrow's average wind speed was 13.8 mph, with a highest speed of 43 mph, from a southwesterly direction, on the 25th.
