Nome's mean monthly temperature for September was 40.0°F, 2.8°F below the average 42.8°F expected. The highest temperature for the month was 57°F on the 4th, while the lowest was 18°F on the 22nd, which also set a low daily temperature record, breaking the 1992 record by 2°F.

Precipitation was lighter than normal with 1.49" measured, and 2.45" expected. Snowfall was also less than normal with 0.2" observed and 0.6" expected. The average wind speed was 9.5 mph with a highest wind speed of 37 mph from a northwesterly direction on the 11th.
