Highlights

Nome had a mean monthly temperature of 42.9°F, 6.1°F above the 36.8°F normally expected. The highest temperature for the month was 74°F on the 31st, which tied the record for that day set in 1990. Two days earlier, on the 29th, the 73°F that was observed broke the record for that day by 1°F, originally set in 1981. The lowest temperature for the month was 28°F on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Precipitation was higher than normal at 1.22” measured and 0.86” expected. The total precipitation of 0.34" on the 25th set a new daily record, breaking the 1988 record of 0.25". Also, the total of 0.38" precipitation on the 25th broke the 2001 record also of 0.25". No snowfall was observed while 2.3” are normally expected. The average wind speed was 9.3 mph, while the highest wind speed was 35 mph on the 11th from a southeasterly direction.
