Highlights

Kodiak was warmer than normal for January, with a mean temperature of 33.1°F, 2.6°F above the expected mean of 30.5°F. With the exception of two short cold spells, temperatures tended to be at or above normal for most of January. The maximum temperature for the month (45°F) was observed on the 13th. The minimum temperature was a chilly -10°F, reported on the 27th.
Precipitation was near average with a total of 9.53", 1.24" above the expected amount of 8.29". The 1.59" of rain that fell on the 19th was a new record, topping the 2004 record of 1.12". Snowfall was exactly normal at 13.0”. The average wind speed was 10.0 mph, while the highest wind gust occurred on the 1st at 56 mph, blowing from a southeasterly direction.
