Kodiak was warmer than normal for January, with a mean temperature of 33.1°F, 2.6°F above the expected mean of 30.5°F. With the exception of two short cold spells, temperatures tended to be at or above normal for most of January. The maximum temperature for the month (45°F) was observed on the 13th. The minimum temperature was a chilly -10°F, reported on the 27th.
Precipitation was near average with a total of 9.53", 1.24" above the expected amount of 8.29". The 1.59" of rain that fell on the 19th was a new record, topping the 2004 record of 1.12". Snowfall was exactly normal at 13.0â€. The average wind speed was 10.0 mph, while the highest wind gust occurred on the 1st at 56 mph, blowing from a southeasterly direction.
