Ketchikan observed in December 2010 a temperature close to normal, but a deficit in precipitation. The mean monthly temperature was 35.1°F, just 0.4°F below normal. On the 22nd, the temperature rose to 47°F, while on the 29th the minimum with 17°F occurred. Precipitation is high in the Southeast Panhandle and 9.63" where recorded for the month. This is still only 70% of the long-term mean. Three days, the 1st, 10th, and 11th, all recorded more than 1" for the day, each greater than the long-term means for precipitation in Interior and Northern Alaska for the month of December.
