Highlights

In Juneau, the average temperature was 41.8°F, 1.0°F above the normal for April. The maximum temperatures for the month (62°F) occurred on the 12thand the minimum temperature (20°F) was recorded on the 1st. The temperature of the 12thalso set a new record, surpassing the old record for this day set in 2003 by a substantial 5°F. On the 16ththe old record of 56°F, set in 2010, 2001 and 1996, was broken by 1°F. Then on the 18ththe previous maximum of 59°F, set in 1993, was matched.
Precipitation totaled 1.68" water-equivalent, 43% below normal. Despite the low overall precipitation, the 0.67" of rain on the 29thwas a new record, breaking the old record of 0.52", set in 1996. The mean monthly wind speed was 6.4 mph, with a maximum gust of 55 mph occurring on 20thblowing from ESE. Furthermore, mean cloudiness was high with 70%.
